Resilience and growth are choices; there is no growth in the comfort zone.

With a partner, 'on our side', together we can step out and do the work.

So you can be the person you want to be; your remarkable self.

Dave Be Remarkable

“How Dave has survived PTSD to the level he has is quite remarkable”

Prof. David Nutt, Imperial College London

“Dave is a remarkable and inspiring man.

His tenacity, compassion and determination drove forward his recovery.

I consider Dave a natural born psychotherapist.

At the core of his personality is a gentleness and kindness, combined with a steely insistence that life is good and people can be trusted.

He has so much to offer by way of sharing his experiences.

I can think of no one better to be steering the ship.”

Dave’s story is a remarkable one.

A story of resilience, choices, and growth.

At its heart lies a journey home, a bumpy and sometimes tortuous journey from the depths of fear and despair to the heights of resilience, growth, and purpose.

  • As your coach, Dave will partner with you to be more resilient and unlock the doors to personal and professional growth.

  • As a keynote speaker, Dave will share his story and inspirational message with your organisation so that they can actively engage with, be excited about, and take action to be more resilient.

Of course, resilience is an outcome; it cannot be bought or flicked on by a switch, but it is one we can choose.

We have a choice in everything; accepting this truth can be daunting as it means ‘you’ become responsible for change. Yet, in that acceptance lies great liberation.

Even when all seems lost, Dave knows that choosing hope gives us a lifeline to hold onto. Hope will ignite the flames of resilience within us.

Our mind is our ultimate power, our best friend, and our fiercest enemy; the choices we make with our mind reverberate through every action we take and shape the very essence of our emotions.

Drawing on his own experience of facing adversity, Dave is able to share his insights, philosophies, and strategies with you, your team, or your organisation to make those choices and build resilience, leading to the change you want.

That change is the prize for those willing to find and unleash the courage to do the work, win their inner battles, and release their inherent strengths; in partnership, we’ll embrace the mantra, “There is no growth in the comfort zone.”.

Together, let’s ‘be remarkable’.

AS FEATURED IN

About Dave

Dave had an idyllic childhood, spending his days climbing trees, building dens, racing around on bikes, and mostly playing any sport he and his mates could get the kit for.

At age 12, his childhood was shattered when he witnessed the murder of his Mum in their home. The perpetrator was a struggling colleague she was trying to help.

Only luck and some quick thinking saved Dave from the same fate.

As a family, they had no idea how to cope, so after one day off school, they tried to ‘carry on as normal’ and Dave next spoke to his Dad about that night 20 years later, when the PTSD flashbacks, which had set in many years earlier, had become unbearable.

Following three visits to the doctor one week, with the PTSD flashbacks leaving Dave unable to eat, sleep, and function properly at work, he was advised to ‘pull himself together’.

If only Dave had thought of that!

What followed was several decades of relentless searching for answers to relieve the symptoms of PTSD.

To the outside world, Dave has had a great life, enriched with friends, family, sport, and a successful career.

However, it has been a bumpy ride punctuated with intense PTSD flashbacks, fear and despair, and, at its worst, alcohol abuse, several hospitalisations, and rehab centres.

His life now is wonderful; he has never felt better; he is able to cope with the slings and arrows that inevitably come to all of us; he’s living a life of joy, purpose, and meaning.

And, ‘mostly’, with a calm mind.

In fact, nowadays his most common source of stress is following Leeds United each week!!; he’ll cope with that.

He has found his calling: to share his story and insights and work with others to inspire and guide them to build resilience, say a resounding “yes” to life, and unlock limitless growth.

Life Coaching

Life coaching is the second-fastest-growing industry in the world, the reason being, it works.

Resilience is the foundation of growth and a springboard for those wanting to say “yes” to life.

Resilience is not something we are born with, flicked on by a switch, or bought.

However, it can be learned if we choose to do so. Resilience is multifaceted, and with the right knowledge and courage to do the work, each of us can develop it, like any other skill, through strategy and practice.

With someone ‘on our side’, we’re much better placed to develop our resilience, face life’s challenges, and open the doors to personal and professional growth.

Dave would not be where he is today without what he calls ‘his team’ of people. He describes the coaching relationship as a partnership, one based on teamwork.

A partnership in which you’ll feel able to set aside your ego, be open to change, and stimulate curiosity and reflection. It may require a little ‘deliberate’ vulnerability, which is of course, a strength rooted in courage.

Together, you will:

  1. Become crystal clear on the outcomes you desire; identify the actions, challenges, and solutions to meet the outcomes.
  2. Create a partnership based on empathy, challenge, encouragement, curiosity, reflection, and fun.
  3. Step out of the comfort zone

Together, let’s ‘be remarkable’.

Keynote Talks

A well-told story is The Ultimate Messenger.

Dave’s keynote talk can be nuanced to meet the needs of any organisation looking to build resilience, embrace the mindset of saying “yes” to life and open the doors to limitless growth.

His story is told with passion, emotion, and humour. It will engage and sometimes shock the audience.

Dave will clearly articulate the often bumpy path he took to free him from fear and despair to a life of growth and purpose, and why resilience and choices are the cornerstones of that transformation.

Although Dave, coming from a ‘stiff upper lip’ background, never sought sympathy, he did have an epiphany moment when he knew he had to lose all sense of being a victim and embrace taking responsibility for his own destiny.

Dave’s message stems from his own visceral and felt experiences, giving it authenticity beyond theory alone.

That authenticity is brought to life through vivid anecdotes of his own remarkable story.

The audience will be left inspired and wanting to reflect on how they can say “yes” to life, accept complete responsibility for their professional and personal lives, and embark on a journey of resilience and growth.

Adversity truly can be a source of remarkable things.

Resilience Workshops

A lively and immersive learning experience.

Resilience is a multifaceted strength.

The workshops will introduce and explore profound insights into what resilience is and why it matters.

The audience can expect to leave feeling enlightened, energised, and equipped with strategies to build their resilience.

Strategies that, with practice, will ingrain resilience by creating new habits and exercising the brain’s neuroplasticity.

The mode, or approach, of the workshops will be engaging, interactive, challenging, and fun.

The use of visual aids, breakout groups, hands-on challenges, and role play will ensure experiential learning of key messages.

The teamwork required in the workshops will both, help bond the participants through shared experiences, and build a higher rate of advocacy for the importance of developing resilience.

The workshops will be delivered through a framework of:

  1. An exploration of resilience and sharing of insight through real-life anecdotes, small group and whole team discussions.
  2. Participant creation of a resilience blueprint with a personal, team, or organisational focus, solidifying their commitment to not only take responsibility but also to ensure its successful implementation.

Workshops can be tailored in number, depth of detail, and length to suit requirements.

Our blog

In a world of endless information feeds, how often do you challenge what you are told? Perhaps more importantly, are you curious about your life and what would make it remarkable?
The power of hope is astonishing, but sadly, it does not reach all those who need it most. But let's keep on searching for it, and when it's found, keep it safe, and when invited, share it endlessly.
